Debbie Smith CTE Academy

  • New CTE Academy is on pace to open in August 2025. 

    Construction progress is moving along nicely at the Debbie Smith CTE Academy. The new career and technical education (CTE) high school is slated to open in August 2025 and is the second CTE high school in Washoe County School District (WCSD). The school design includes several buildings from the original Procter R. Hug High School. Other buildings were demolished to make room for the new main school building on this campus.   

     

    Highlights:

    • A state-of-the-art teaching and learning facility which includes 40 teaching stations, spaces for CTE Academies, and space for high school athletics. 
    • A comprehensive high school that includes CTE programming.
    • The CTE Academies are:
      • Culinary Arts with Hospitality and Tourism
      • Engineering & Manufacturing
      • Marketing and Multimedia
      • BioMedical, Practical Nursing and Nursing Assistant 
      • Natural Resources & Animal Sciences
      • Welding and Metalworking
      • Building Construction and Technology
      • Teaching & Training
    • Construction began in November 2022.
    • The new school is scheduled to be completed and open in August 2025. 
    • The enrollment application period for the 2025-2026 school year begins in Fall 2024 and is open to all grade levels: incoming freshmen, sophmores, juniors, and seniors. 
    • RiSE Academy for Adult Achievement will be moved to this site in its own building.
