JWood Raw Elementary School
-
New elementary school in Damonte Ranch community slated to open in August 2023.
Construction is underway at the new elementary school in south Reno, which is scheduled to open on August 14, 2023. The new school will be similar in design to the District's other recently opened elementary schools.
On March 29, 2022 the Board of Trustees voted to name the school JWood Raw Elementary School, after a former WCSD teacher and principal who served the district for more than 30 years.
The school will have a capacity of 745 students and will relieve overcrowding in south Reno schools. The school site lies within the Damonte Ranch Planned Unity Development.
