In 2023, the Board of Trustees approved a new five-year strategic plan to guide the district into the future. The plan includes five main goals:
Strong Start for Every Child: Every Student, through Grade 3, will experience equitable learning opportunities for success in developmentally appropriate environments.
Student Voice & Advocacy: Every student will have ongoing opportunities to take ownership of their education journey.
Safety & Belonging: Every student will be welcomed, included and valued within a safe and supportive school environment.
Academic Growth & Achievement: Every student will have access to challenging academic programs, meet or exceed standards and achieve at least one year's academic growth annually.

Increase, in percentage points, of WCSD’s graduation rate since 2013. In 2023, Washoe County School District (WCSD) achieved a graduation rate of 81 percent of students graduating on-time with their four-year cohort. The Class of 2023 was the seventh class to eclipse the 80% mark since the 4-Year Cohort Graduation Rate has been reported, and 50 percent of our graduates earn an advanced, college & career ready (CCR) or honors diploma!

Instructional staff throughout the district. We have 366 Nationally Board-Certified Teachers and more than 70 percent of our teachers have a Master’s degree or higher! We are the largest employer in Washoe County and we are proud of our teachers and all of our support staff!
WCSD offers more than 35 Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs of study across all of its comprehensive high schools. CTE programs blend classroom instruction with hands-on work, leadership development, and career exploration. Signature Academies are spotlighted comprehensive CTE high school programs that feature a rigorous, applied curriculum that includes opportunities to earn college credit and industry certifications, gain 21st century skills, and develop connections between school and the real world. Programs are offered in Agricultural Science & Natural Resources, Business & Marketing, Engineering & Manufacturing, Information Technology, Media & Communications, Health Sciences & Human Services, International Baccalaureate, and Performing Arts. Coming in 2025, the Debbie Smith CTE Academy High School! 
Amount, in dollars, invested in new schools, repairs, renovations and expansions in WCSD since 2016! That year, Washoe County voters passed a ballot initiative to raise the local sales tax to help build and modernize our school district. Since then, seven new schools have been built, two have been rebuilt and two more have seen major expansion projects completed. The increased capital funding has helped WCSD with several initiatives, including the reduction of overcrowding, updated safety features and increased energy efficiency.
