An exciting new chapter for WCSD schools begins.
PreK-8 Feasability Study:
The district is studying whether to make Pine Middle School and/or Traner Middle School a Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade school (PreK-8) in the future. This is the result of a recommendation in connection with the 2023 Facility Modernization Plan. This option represents an opportunity to expand family choice and access to new education pathways, tailored to the needs of our communities and was born out of community conversations in 2023.
The district's consultant, CannonDesign is engaging district administrators, teachers, parents, and community members in this study. A task force is currently reviewing data and discussing the PreK-8 model. Their work includes review and input from existing districts using this model throughout the nation. Community meetings are being held in May in the Pine MS and Traner MS communities. Information from these meetings can be reviewed on the links below. Additionally, an online survey is available through May 31, 2024.
