Stead Elementary School rebuild project
-
Washoe County School District continues the 2023 Facility Modernization Plan (FMP) work in North Valleys community.
Stead Elementary School was built in the 1950s and was identified in the 2023 FMP to be rebuilt due to the aging infrastructure and overcrowding. WCSD Board of Trustees approved the design phase funding for the rebuild of Stead Elementary School at the February 13, 2024, meeting. The replacement school will be built on the nearby Silver Dollar Lane property which is owned by WCSD.
Highlights:
- One of the first 2023 FMP projects to be approved.
- Build a brand-new elementary school using the current elementary school prototype model.
- A two-story building with space for over 700 students.
- State-of-the-art teaching and learning spaces, including a STEAM Lab, a media center, group learning spaces, and enhanced classroom spaces.
- Plans are to begin construction in fall 2024.
- The scheduled completion date is August 2026.
