    April 1, 2020 UPDATED INFORMATION ON SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH

    At the Board Meeting on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, the Board of Trustees decided to ended the search process for the superintendent.  The board requested staff to place an item on the April 28, 2020 Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees to appoint Interim Superintendent Dr. Kristen McNeill as the permanent superintendent.

     In addition, the Board of Trustees requested that the community should have the ability to provide feedback and comment on the proposed action on the school district’s website.

    The Board of Trustees is providing the opportunity for all of our families, students, staff, and community members to give us your feedback and comments on the decision to end the search process for the superintendent and appoint Interim Superintendent Dr. Kristen McNeill as the permanent superintendent at our April 28, 2020 meeting.     As the Washoe County School District Board of Trustees continues its search for a Superintendent, below is the updated timeline (subject to change) for interviews and a Community Town Hall as determined at the Board of Trustees Work Session on February 25, 2020.

    Tuesday, March 10 at 9 a.m. Work Session of the Board of Trustees in the Board Room at the Central Administration Building, 425 East Ninth Street in Reno. At this meeting, the Trustees will review the applications of the top candidates as presented by JG Consulting. This is an open meeting and will be live streamed on the District website.

    Update as of March 11, 2020: The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees at their Work Session on March 10, 2020 selected five individuals from the pool of candidates presented by JG Consulting for in-person interviews. Each trustee selected a maximum of five candidates from the pool of nine applicants. The candidates that received a majority vote of four or more will be invited to an interview scheduled for April 7 or April 8, 2020.

    These candidates are (in alphabetical order):

    * Antwan Wilson

    The interviews will be conducted in open public meetings which will be live-streamed. The schedule is currently being established and as soon as it is set it will be posted on the Trustees website.

    Tuesday, April 7 in the afternoon and Wednesday, April 8 in the morning Work Sessions of the Board of Trustees in the Board Room at the Central Administration Building, 425 East Ninth Street in Reno. At these meetings, the Trustees will conduct the first round of interviews with the top candidates selected at the March 10 session. This is an open meeting and will be live streamed on the District website.  The Trustees will narrow the pool of candidates to the final group of candidates.

    Monday, April 13 in the evening Shortlisted candidate interviews at Community Town Hall at a location to be determined. At this Town Hall event - prior to final interviews with Trustees - staff, families, students, and the community will be able to hear from the final candidates. A moderator from JG Consulting will ask questions of the final candidates allowing each person 30 minutes to answer questions while the other candidates are sequestered when not speaking. Additionally, the community will have the opportunity to provide feedback to the Board of Trustees prior to the interviews and final decision. The Town Hall will be live streamed on the District website with instructions for providing feedback.

    Tuesday, April 14 in the morning Work Session of the Board of Trustees in the Board Room at the Central Administration Building, 425 East Ninth Street in Reno. At this meeting, the Trustees will conduct the second round of interviews with the final candidates with a possible selection of a new superintendent for WCSD.  This is an open meeting and will be live streamed on the District website.

     

    JG Consulting

    JG Consulting, a national consulting firm, has been hired by the WCSD Board of Trustees to conduct the search for the next District superintendent. JG Consulting invited the Washoe County community members to apply to be part of an input group working directly with the consulting team. This group has no interaction with the WCSD Board of Trustees but serves to provide community input to JG Consulting.
