WCSD launched the development of a Facility Modernization Plan (FMP) and, in summer 2022, contracted with CannonDesign for this project. Since then, CannonDesign has started conducting a comprehensive assessment of every WCSD facility, performed demographic studies and facilitated a transparent planning process. This work is to help with a long-term facilities plan to ensure that every student in our district grows and thrives in the best possible learning environment. The FMP will guide and inform facility use and capital investment decisions for the next five to 10 years.
WCSD and CannonDesign hosted a regional conversation in Incline Village on April 5, 2023 to share initial concepts for Incline Village public schools. Additionally, meetings were hosted by the Superintendent and WCSD Board leadership on May 3, 2023 and October 12, 2023, to continue the dialog. Options were provided by CannonDesign for review and feedback from the community. During these meetings, no final decisions were made. Additionally, there will be more opportunities for the families, staff and community to learn more and weigh in on the options.
CannonDesign will present recommendations to the WCSD Board of Trustees towards the end of 2023. Their recommendations will be based on best outcomes for students and resource constraints, with strong consideration of community preferences. Options under consideration must be voted on and approved by the WCSD Board of Trustees.
