New in the 2024-25 School Year
Communication during an emergency is vital to the safety of students, staff, and visitors at our schools. To ensure clear and concise communication during an emergency, WCSD will no longer use codes to implement emergency procedures. This change is in line with national best practices, lessons learned from national incidents, and the recommendation of the Department of Homeland Security.
What was previously referred to in our district as a "Code Red – Lockdown" is now known as a lockdown. What was previously referred to as "Precautionary Code Yellow – Secured Campus" is a secured campus. The definition of each procedure will remain the same.

Active Emergencies Explained
Comunicación de Emergencias Activas en WCSD
All WCSD schools’ staff and students practice safety measures during the school year to ensure they know how to stay safe during emergencies. When there is an emergency or crisis at or near a school the district has an active emergency communication protocol to notify affected families promptly.
WCSD Responsible Threat Reporting Video
If you see any threats against schools or students on social media, please notify the police rather than sharing the threat further on social media. This is the most effective way to stop any actual threat of danger, and prevent the spread of rumors.
