    WCSD Zoning Advisory Committee to Discuss Possible School Attendance Zoning Changes

    As part of its ongoing commitment to maintain open lines of communication with families and to consider public input in making decisions, the Washoe County School District (WCSD) is encouraging parents, families, students, and community members to participate in the Zoning Advisory Committee meeting on Thursday, Jan. 20. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at Nick Poulakidas Elementary School, located at 9600 Mojave Sky Drive in Reno.

    WCSD Seeks Volunteers for Superintendent Search Advisory Group

    The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is searching for a new superintendent to succeed Dr. Kristen McNeill upon her retirement this summer. As part of the process, the District is seeking applicants for the Search Advisory Group (SAG) which will provide input and assist the search firm – The Bryan Group – with collecting community data.

    Dr. Angela Taylor Re-Elected President of WCSD Board of Trustees for 2022

    At its regular public meeting, the Washoe County School District (WCSD) Board of Trustees re-elected Dr. Angela Taylor to serve as president of the Board for 2022. Trustee Dr. Diane Nicolet was elected to serve as vice president of the Board, and Trustee Ellen Minetto was elected to serve as clerk.

    Kindergarten Registration Begins for 2022-2023 School Year

    The Washoe County School District (WCSD) is encouraging all families whose children will be five years old on or before the first day of school to register for kindergarten. WCSD is also reminding families that beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, the Nevada Department of Education has determined that there will be new age requirements for all kindergartners in Nevada.
