  • An internship is a work-based learning experience that places the student in a real workplace environment to develop and practice career-related knowledge and skills for a specific career field related to the student’s career interests, abilities, and goals.

    Individual Internships-

    START HERE!  Take this quick survey to let us know you are interested in participating in an individual internship.

    *Meet a specific career interest of the student and facilitated by a site-based teacher and employer host.

    *Students guided by a formal, written training plan that defines specific academic and workplace skills to be mastered.

    *Internships may be taken for course credit typically 60 hours per semester credit; non credit options are also available.

    *These are most appropriate for upperclassmen students. Individual internships start the second week of each semester and end the week prior to finals.

     

    Group Internships-

    Group Internship Application Please complete the Washoe County School District Group Internship Request Form to request placement in an internship.  

    *Organized by career field, facilitated by a teacher and focus on understanding the range of career opportunities available in the field.

    * Internships are typically unpaid and are connected to classroom learning and accompanied by structured reflection activities.

    *Students participating in internships are guided by a formal, written training plan that defines specific academic and workplace skills to be mastered.

    *Internships may be taken for course credit typically 60 hours per semester credit.

    *These are most appropriate for upperclassmen students.

    *To earn credit, students must attend orientation, all scheduled classes, meet specific learning outcomes, complete assignments, and participate in a final project presentation.

    *Group internships start the second week of each semester and end the week prior to finals.

    *Group internships have LIMITED space and are based on application submissions and random lottery draw for enrollment.

    Renown Health Medical Internship - Explore Renown Health, learning from a variety of health and patient care professionals about career opportunities in direct medical care, diagnostics, informatics (patient information management), management and human resources.

    KUNR Youth Media Program - Intern with KUNR to learn how to be a radio reporter and podcaster! Students get hands-on experience from professional journalists to learn how to pitch, write, voice, and edit audio stories that matter to them.
