Trustee Elizabeth “Beth” Smith (she/her/hers) began her term as trustee in July 2021 representing District D, which is comprised of the central Reno community and includes 22 schools. She was originally appointed by the Board of Trustees to fill the vacant District D seat and later won an election to maintain the role. 

Beth Smith is a gaming industry professional with more than 20 years of experience in marketing, communications, inclusion, and relationships. She specializes in creating outreach that is effective and impactful. Her passion is finding the intersection of people, programs, and potential. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Hampshire, majoring in Communication and double minoring in Business Administration and Political Science. Trustee Smith lives by the philosophy that change is a series of small adjustments made over time and growth is possible every day.

Trustee Smith has been involved in our community with close personal causes being domestic violence support, mentoring, and public education. She is deeply connected to and passionate about the District's mission of creating an education system where all students receive the tools they need to achieve academic success. She has two young children who are also District students.
