• Invitation to Apply for Vacant Trustee Position District C

    The Washoe County School District (WCSD) Board of Trustees (Board) invites interested members of the community to apply for the vacant seat in District C. The WCSD District C seat is vacant due to the incumbent District C Trustee being elected to another office in the 2024 elections. To apply, individuals must submit the following: Letter of Intent and Resume or Curriculum Vitae.

    The Letter of Intent should include answers to:

    1. Why are you interested in serving on the WCSD Board of Trustees?
    2. What experience, interests, training or other skills do you feel you would bring to the WCSD Board of Trustees?
    3. How will you engage with students, staff, families, and the community in this role?
    4. What is the role of a WCSD Trustee?

    Applicants must meet the "Qualifications of Trustee" found in NRS 386.240: (1) Be a qualified elector, and (2) Have the qualifications of residence within the county school district required for the office for which he or she seeks election. For a map of District C, please see the WCSD's website or contact Board Services Department at 775-789-4612. WCSD employees may not serve as Trustee and employee.

    To be considered by the Board for appointment, an applicant must:

    • Be a qualified elector;
    • Reside in District C; (link goes to District C map)
    • Submit a Letter of Intent that answers the four questions above;
    • Submit a Curriculum Vitae or Resumé;
    • Attend an all-day professional development on January 26, 2025;
    • Submit to, and pass, a background check and fingerprinting similar to other appointed Trustees.

    Any applicant not qualified under NRS 386.240, who fails to submit a completed application packet, who cannot attend the January 26, 2025 professional development meeting, and/or who refuses to submit to, or fails, a background check with fingerprinting will not be considered by the Board.

    By applying for this position, all applicants acknowledge and waive the legal notice provisions of NRS 241.033 and NRS 241.034. Applicants consent to their names being placed on a January 7, 2025 public agenda for a public review of applications which will include the ability for each applicant to speak to the trustees for up to 5 minutes as to why they are interested in serving on the Board, if 5 or more applications are received, and if selected for an interview, on the January 14, 2025 public agenda, and they consent to their character and competence being considered at both public meetings under NRS 241.030.
