Introduction to Schoolwide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS):
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based approach using the Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) three-tiered framework.
Multi-Tiered SWPBIS
-
Tier One: Universal Prevention (All)
Tier One practices are the everyday universal strategies which promote high quality instruction of behavioral expectations, focus is on reinforcing prosocial school behavior, and demonstrated across the school campus.
-
Tier Two: Targeted Intervention (Some)
Tier Two targeted interventions provide immediate reteaching of behavioral skill and offers a higher dosage positive feedback over a set amount of time.
-
Tier Three: Individualized Intensive Interventions (Few)
Tier Three practices focus on the individual behavioral needs. The needs are then paired to appropriate, and functionally equivalent, interventions.
