- I have a complaint about my child's coach who do I report that to?
- It is important that if you have a concern or question regarding a coach or any other aspect of the athletic program that you do make an inquiry. The chain of command that is generally followed begins with taking the concern directly to the coach. If circumstances prevent that from happening, then next in line in the chain of command would be the school Athletic Director. Next would be the Administrator in charge of athletics, then the principal, and finally the Coordinator of Activities & Athletics. For information in assistance in making these contacts please call the Student Activities Office.
- What is Register My Athlete (RMA)?
- Register my Athlete is a web based program utilized by all Washoe County School District high schools to register athletes for NIAA sanctioned sports. The same RMA account will be used for all 4 years of the students athletic career. It will take a parent approximately 45 minutes to complete the register for the first time. After that it will be a fast re-visit to change sports status each season or year.
- What is a Transfer of Eligibility (T.E.F.)request?
- A transfer of eligibility is a request that is initiated through Register My Athlete (RMA) system, when an athlete transfers his enrollment from a school to another school within the same school district or to another school district. Depending on the circumstances of the move a student may lose or gain eligibility to participate in sanctioned sports within his/her new school enrollment.
- My child attends a Magnet/Signature Program are they eligible to participate in sports?
- The short answer here is yes, but there are many complexities to the level of participation depending on when transfer into the Signature/Magnet Program. It is important that prior to making the decision to attend one of these programs that you ascertain all information that could impact your student. This office is here to assist and answer all questions that you may have regarding any transfer and its impact on athletic eligibility.
- My child is participating in Regional/State competition, where can I find tournament information?
- To find tournament information regarding Regional or State Competitions, please consult the NIAA website and click on the appropriate sport on left hand column on the main page. For specifics regarding student travel accommodations to and from these events please contact the Students Activity Office.
- What are some of the fees associated with my child participating in high school sports?
- District level fees include a $50 transportation fee, $15 WCSD concussion management assessment fee, $10 Athletic training and supply fee (for each sport played), individual school fees are a $25 student body fee, other fees may be applicable depending on the requirements of each individual sport. Please contact your coach or athletic director regarding fees and fundraising options required for each sport.
