This New Employee Orientation (NEO) page will guide you through the steps necessary to begin your new position. Please thoroughly review the information below and complete all steps. Some requirements will be completed online while others require in-person attention.

Step 2: Required Reading
The following items are required reading materials. Please read these thoroughly as you have a continuing obligation and responsibility to be aware of and to comply with all District Board Policies and Administrative Regulations, which can be amended over time.

Step 3 - Part 1: Adobe Sign New Hire Packet

- You will receive an email from Adobe Sign on behalf of your HR Tech. Please open the email and click the link to complete this packet electronically.
- You will receive a confirmation email once the packet has been successfully submitted.

Step 3 - Part 2: In-Person Forms
After completing this online component of orientation, you will schedule a time to meet with your HR Tech (step 6). At this time there will be some additional forms to complete. In preparation please review the resources below.
- W-4 - Employee's Withholding Certificate
- Need assistance completing your W-4? Utilize the IRS Tax Withholding Estimator or consult with a Tax Professional.
- PERS Enrollment Packet
- For more information about Nevada PERS, review the Need-to-Know document or the PERS New Member Booklet, and/or visit the PERS website at www.nvpers.org
There are also forms that are optional. If you wish to submit these they are required to be printed, physically signed and brought to your in-person meeting.
- Direct Deposit Enrollment (optional - if this form is completed you also must bring a voided check or letter from your bank with your routing and account number)

Step 4: Fingerprinting
All new employees are required to be fingerprinted prior to their first day of work.

- Fingerprinting is completed at Fingerprinting Express:
- Upon arrival you will be required to show THIS FORM. You may present this from your mobile device or print a copy to bring.
- You may either schedule an appointment by CLICKING HERE or walk-ins are welcome.
- Fingerprinting Express is located at 5000 Smithridge Drive Ste A-9, Reno, NV 89502 in the Trader Joe’s shopping center. They are open 9AM-6PM Monday-Friday and 9AM-3PM Saturday. They are closed on Sunday.
- Bring a valid ID (State ID or passport) to your appointment.
- Once your fingerprinting is completed, you will be provided a receipt from Fingerprint Express. Please bring this receipt to your in-person meeting with your HR Tech.
- Cost of fingerprinting will be deducted from paycheck.

Step 5: I-9 Verification Prefill
I-9 Verification
The I-9 verification process is mandatory per the Department of Homeland Security to confirm the employment authorization and identity of individuals hired for employment in the United States.
- CLICK HERE to pre-fill part 1 of Form I-9 online before your meeting with your HR Technician. Our District's access code is 2363. Please utilize your full legal name.
- After completing this online component of orientation, you will schedule a time to meet with your HR Technician, at which time you must present verification documents. You can either provide one document from List A, OR a combination of documents - one from List B AND one from list C.

Step 6: Benefits/Health Insurance

Step 1: Employee Benefits Video:
Please watch the Employee Benefits video for information regarding benefits offered to Washoe County School District Employees and their families.
Step 2: Reading Material - Plan Highlights:
- Please click here to read the Plan Highlights for additional information regarding benefits and premiums.
Step 3: Completing Benefits Enrollment Packet:
- After you have watched the Employee Benefits video and have reviewed the Plan Highlights in steps 1 and 2, you are ready to enroll in benefits.
- Once you have reviewed all of the information and are ready to enroll in district insurance benefits click here to complete an adobe enrollment packet. once the enrollment packet is submitted you will receive a notification via email that your packet has been received by the benefits office.
- You will also receive a confirmation email from your Benefit Specialist once the packet has been successfully processed and you are enrolled in benefits.
Step 4: Required Documents to bring to WCSD:
- If enrolling dependents in benefits, please submit the following to your Benefits Specialist through email or provide at your in-person meeting:
- Marriage Certificate
- Declaration of Domestic Partner Certificate
- Birth Certificate
- Court Ordered documentation
- Front page of Federal Tax Return
- For questions or assistance, please contact your Benefit Specialist by clicking here. Benefit information and support can also be provided at your in-person meeting.
Important Information:
- Benefits will be effective on your first day of employment if all documents are received by our Benefits Office beforehand.
- Once you are enrolled in benefits you can access a digital Anthem card on the Sydney health app or at Anthem.com. Click here to register on Anthem.com or click here to download the Sydney Health app for access to your benefits, ID Card, pharmacy info and more.
- If these forms are not completed and returned to the Benefits Office until after the 30 days of your hire date:
- You will not be enrolled until the 1st of the month following receipt of your completed paperwork in the Benefits Office.

You will not be able to add dependents until the next OPEN ENROLLMENT UNLESS YOU HAVE A QUALIFYING EVENT. Changes made during open enrollment take effect January 1st of the next calendar year.

- Once all New Employee Orientation requirements have been completed, you will be registered in the HR system and assigned an Employee ID number (E000*****). You will need your Employee ID number to access the Employee Online system.
