WCSD Board of Trustees to Select New Trustee, Elect Leadership at Upcoming Public Meetings
 

What: As part of our ongoing commitment to keep media partners and the community apprised of important issues in the Washoe County School District (WCSD), please see the information below regarding the upcoming meetings of the WCSD Board of Trustees.

When: Tuesday, January 14, 2025

9 a.m. – Special meeting of the Board of Trustees to interview four candidates for the District C seat

2 p.m. – Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees

Where: WCSD Administration Building
              Board Meeting Room

Details:

At the 9 a.m. special meeting of the Board of Trustees, four candidates who applied to fill the District C seat will be interviewed separately. Board members are scheduled to make a final choice at this meeting. The four candidates are: Jason Bushey, Felipe Escamilla, Marcus Hodges, and James Phoenix.

At the 2 p.m. regular meeting, Trustees will:

  • Conduct the ceremonial swearing-in for Trustee Christine Hull, Trustee Dr. Diane Nicolet, Trustee Beth Smith, Trustee Alex Woodley, and the candidate who is chosen to represent District C
  • Vote on new officers for the upcoming year, including President, Vice President, and Clerk of the Board
  • Hear a presentation on school safety to include information about vaping, single point of entry at high schools, and the Centegix crisis alert system
  • Honor the students whose  “Phone Away & Learn Today” campaigns were chosen as winners of the district contest
  • Hold a  public hearing to discuss the proposed relocation and change of use of Stead Elementary School
