Financing of Capital Projects at Upcoming Meeting

Details:
- Trustees may take action to augment and amend the fiscal year 2023-24 budget and approve augmentation and transfers for the 2023-24 budget. The augmentation and approval of cross-functional transfers of the budget are routine items that are performed in December and June of each fiscal year to comply with numerous Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) relating to financial administration.
- Board members will discuss whether to adopt a resolution to begin the authorization process of up to $200 million in general obligation bonds to pay for projects including the modernization of Mathews and Palmer elementary schools, Reed High School, and the rebuild of Echo Loder Elementary School. Individual authorizations of these projects will be presented to the Capital Funding Protection Committee and subsequently to the WCSD Board of Trustees for approval over the next several years.
- Board members will discuss whether to adopt a resolution to begin the authorization process of up to $100 million in “rollover bonds” to pay for projects including the rebuild of Stead Elementary School, the completion of Vaughn Middle School rebuilding project, partial funding of the Getto Central Transportation Yard improvements, and the Annual Capital Renewal Program for Fiscal Year 2025-26. Individual authorizations of these projects will be presented to the Capital Funding Proection Committee and subsequently to the Board of Trustees for approval over the next several years.
- Members of the Board will hear a presentation and may vote on whether to approve the 2023-24 “B” Major Projects Plan for FY 2024 Capital Renewal Plan for major repairs and capital renewal projects throughout the district in the amount of $54.7 million as recommended by the Capital Funding Protection Committee.
- Trustees will discuss whether to approve funding to implement the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program at all WCSD middle schools.
