    The Pre-K programs provide high quality early childhood education services for qualifying families in the Washoe County School District. Due to the high demand of these programs, we require all our available spaces to be filled with regularly attending, active participants.

    All families enrolled in the Pre K and Cow Bus programs are required to fulfill the following;
    • Attend Family Orientation
    • Attend Family conferences 
    • Participate and report Parent and Child Time Together (PACT)
    • Read with your child and report time read 

    We are a Grant funded program and have family engagement goals to meet. Please attend four, or more, of the following events;

    Program Workshops
    • Mediawise
    • Born Learning
    •  NV Pre K Standards
    • Family Storyteller 

    Family Events

    • Fall Literacy Fair
    • Count on Books Math Night
    • Science Exploration
    • Kindergarten Connection 

    Site Workshops and Events - offered through the Pre K or COW Bus site

    Parent University - Family Access Day at UNR
      

    Priority will be given to children who meet the following criteria;

    • Four (4) years old by September 30th of the current school year
    • Not enrolled in a publically funded preschool program
    • Not currently eligible to attend Kindergarten 
    • Lives in the Zone where they will attend Pre K
    • Children in Transition
    • Grant funding may require additional qualifications at some sites
    •    

    Enrollment Requirements

    • An official copy of the child's birth certificate. The child's name, as it appears on the birth certificate, will be used on all official documents
    • A current immunization record 
    • The child's social security number is recommended
    • Address verification (utility bill) and a family member's photo ID may be requested
    • Family income verification may be requested at some sites to meet grant requirements 
    • The child’s social security card is recommended
    • Please note, your child will not be enrolled in Pre K until you attend the required meeting and complete the enrollment paperwork


    How to Enroll

    Step one:
    Place your child on our “Interest List” by calling 321-3225, ext. 2.  We experience a high volume of calls. It may take up to 3 business days to return your call. Thank you for your patience.

    • Complete an intake over the phone.
    • Call if you have a change in address or phone number.

    Step two:
    If a space becomes available for your child, a representative from our program will call you to set up an appointment for enrollment.
