Statewide Professional Development Programs

  • In addition to providing preschool programming to young children in Washoe County, the Child and Family Services Department supports the professional growth of early childhood educators through two separate, but complimentary, professional development programs; The Nevada Registry and Nevada Pre-K Standards.

The Nevada Registry is a professional development, recognition, and data collection system for early childhood in Nevada. In addition to being an information system that captures important data about the early childhood workforce, The Nevada Registry supports the adults working with children by providing professional development resources, recognition for educational and professional accomplishments, and serves as the training approval system for community-based training in early childhood.

The Nevada Pre-K Standards program provides hands-on, interactive training to help early childhood educators understand, develop and incorporate learning experiences for young children based on best practice approaches. The program also supports families by providing resources to guide the use and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for children in the home.
