New Applicant, Past Substitute, or Hourly Teacher

STEP 1
Obtain a substitute or teacher license issued by the Nevada State Department of Education. Go to the Nevada Department of Education.You will need a minimum of 60 credits or an associate's degree (or higher). For all questions regarding licensure, please get in touch with the Nevada State Department of Education at 775-687-9115 or email them at license@doe.nv.gov.STEP 2
Complete a Washoe County School District "certified" application*. Click here to create an online account.PLEASE NOTE: Once your application is complete, please attach it to the Guest (Substitute) Teacher job posting and follow the instructions provided.All district positions require two (2) returned confidential references, one of which must be your current or previous direct supervisor. Whenever possible, provide email addresses for your references in the application so they can be sent electronically. Notify your references that you will be using them as part of the WCSD application process and encourage them to respond as soon as possible.*Your references cannot be older than 18 months. If they are, please submit new references.STEP 3 - checking that your application is complete
- Your license is issued by the NVDOE
- Your application is completed
- You have at least two returned references, one of which must be from your most recent supervisor.
- You have attached your application for the Guest Teacher position on the WCSD Careers page.
Please email us at suboffice@washoeschools.net. Once we have reviewed your application, we will contact you to schedule your orientation.GUEST (SUBSTITUTE) TEACHERS ARE REQUIRED TO WORK AT LEAST 10 TIMES A YEAR.COUNTING BEGINS IN THE MONTH YOU ARE HIRED.
