Minimum Requirements for Substitute Teaching

    The Nevada State Department of Education issues a substitute or teacher license. To apply for a standard substitute license, you must have a minimum of 60 college credits.  For an application for licensure, go to the Department of Education Licensure Portal. Click on Opal: Apply for a License or Endorsement to set up your account and apply for your license.     Applications for substitute teaching will be accepted on an ongoing basis.  Hiring will be based on the department’s needs.
