• Great Things Happen When You SHOW UP!

Chronic absenteeism has become a significant challenge in Nevada. If your student is missing 10% or more school days in a year, they may be considered chronically absent. This problem gained momentum during the pandemic, with absenteeism rates surging as families dealt with unprecedented challenges. Chronic absenteeism is particularly concerning because it disrupts learning, widens achievement gaps, and reduces future opportunities for students. Younger students starting their school careers in kindergarten and students in transitional grades (5th, 8th, and 12th) are among the most at-risk groups. Overcoming chronic absenteeism will take a collective effort from families, schools, and the community to remove barriers and help every student thrive.
