5210 Healthy Washoe is a community-based program committed to increasing healthy eating and active living behaviors among children and adults. 5210 Healthy Washoe has a unique partnership of Washoe County’s leading health, business and community organizations. Through our network of community partners, we foster positive changes, one healthy choice at a time.

5210 Healthy Washoe was adapted from Let’s Go!, a nationally recognized obesity prevention initiative working with communities to create environments that support healthy choices. Bringing evidence-based strategies for healthy living into schools, child care and out-of-school programs, health care practices, and workplaces 5210 Healthy Washoe reaches children and adults where they live, learn, work, and play.

Washoe County School District and Nutrition Services have partnered with the Washoe County Health Department to implement this program at a variety of pilot elementary school sites this year to enhance the visibility and education of fresh fruits and vegetables as part of the school meal program. Through coordinated efforts, we will strive to bring better awareness to the importance of fruits and vegetables as part of balanced meals.
