Fresh Fruit & Veggies Program (FFVP)
-
Each week, selected schools in underserved areas of Washoe County School District receive a special shipment of unique seasonal produce to share with students at their school. This program is funded through SNAP-Ed and made possible in coordination with WCSD Nutrition Services and UNR Extension. Along with tasting fresh produce, students are provided nutrition education and invited to take part in a physical activity exercise as part of the lesson.
Many schools that host this program are always looking for volunteers to help distribute the produce at their site. To help out or learn more about the program, contact your school kitchen personnel or WCSD Nutrition Services.
