SCPE -- How it works
-
Students may earn a 1/2 (.5) PE credit by providing evidence of 60 hours of participation in an approved pre-professional / competitive sport. The sport does not qualify unless it is being pursued for pre-professional involvement or national/regional competition.
- Supervised Curriculum Physical Education (SCPE) is offered on a semester basis, with a maximum of two (2) credits (physical education credit) earned in total through SCPE in their high school career.
- Students are not eligible for SCPE if their parent or relative is their coach.
- Students may count up to a maximum of 4 hours per day of supervised practice and/or competition. A coach or instructor is responsible for signing the student's attendance report on each day that the student has completed hours and at the end of the month before the student turns in his/her SCPE attendance report to Extended Studies.
- Hours are reported each month by mail, or emailed to extendedstudies@washoeschools.net. Students report hours in the first week of the following month after they have accrued them. Both pages of the Attendance Report must be submitted together monthly. If the student is submitting hours for the competition, a copy of the competition program/agenda must be attached to the report with the activities that the student participated in circled.
- S/U grades are awarded for SCPE and do not affect the student’s GPA.
- Failure to fully and properly complete and submit the course requirements will result in the student’s forfeiture of the opportunity to earn credit through SCPE for the semester.
-
