Welcome to the Strategies & Ombudsman Service Office
The Ombudsman & Strategies Office is new to the school district. It brings together existing departments (Behavior, Equity & Diversity, MTSS-SEL) with a new division (Ombudsman Services) and responsibilities, and a Board appointed advisory committee "Zoning Advisory Committee". As is true with all WCSD offices, the office exists to support students as they progress toward graduation and beyond. Toward this end, our office focuses on promoting and supporting climate and culture. For students to best achieve their goals and aspirations, an optimal learning environment is required.
The mission of the Ombudsman & Strategies Office is to provide system-wide leadership for a unified approach to fostering climate and engagement. An engaging climate which optimizes learning is one in which students, families, and staff share a sense of belongingness, is inclusive, and one in which equitable practices and collaboration prevail. This involves coordination between and among the Behavioral Department "Behavior", the Equity & Diversity Department "Equity & Diversity", and the MTSS-SEL Department "MTSS-SEL". It further requires collaboration and alignment with other Departments including but not limited to the Reengagement Department "Intervention & Reengagement", the Counseling Department "Counseling", and the Family Schools Partnership Department "Family Partnerships". We add to this our Division of Ombudsman Services, which provides a platform for informal conflict resolution. Our daily aim is to support student success directly, through family engagement, and through support for teachers and administrators at the site level.
