Walk to School Day is September 24, 2025!
Let’s Get Moving—Together!
The countdown is on! Walk to School Day is coming up on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, and we’re inviting schools across Washoe County to join the national movement to celebrate safe, active transportation.
Each year, thousands of schools across the country participate in this energizing event—encouraging students to walk, bike, or roll to school alongside parents, teachers, and friends. Whether you’re walking one block or biking the whole way, every step counts!
Why Walk to School?
✔️ Boost Physical Activity
Only 20% of school-aged children meet the recommended daily activity levels. Walk to School Day is a fun and simple way to get kids moving and help build healthy lifelong habits.✔️ Promote Safer Streets
More walkers and bikers mean greater visibility, stronger awareness, and a chance to advocate for safer, more walkable school zones.✔️ Build School Spirit & Community Connection
Walking together gives students, families, and staff a chance to connect and start the day with positive energy and school pride.✔️ Reduce Traffic Congestion
Fewer cars around the school means a calmer, safer environment for everyone. How to Participate
Getting involved is easy! Whether your school hosts a big celebration or a simple neighborhood meet-up, Walk to School Day is a great way to promote health, safety, and fun.
We’re here to support your planning every step of the way.
