  • Policy 1310, Political Activity in Schools

    Board Policy 1310, Political Activity in Schools, has been revised by staff to provide clarifying language related to classroom and staff political activities.  That includes a provision that staff “shall not participate, testify or provide public comment on behalf of the District at government meetings (federal, state, and local) without the express permission of the Superintendent or the Superintendent’s Designee.”  Additionally, language related to Freedom of Speech was removed as there is policy in place to address that issue.

  • Policy 4105, Employment Practices

    Board Policy 4105, Employment Practices, is proposed for deletion upon adoption of changes to Board Policy 4110, Talent Acquisition.

  • Policy 4110, Talent Acquisition

    Board Policy 4110, Talent Acquisition, (formerly entitled “Talent Acquisition and Selection of Personnel”) has been revised to include language related to notification of the Board of Trustees by the Superintendent prior to any reorganization, creation or elimination of Leadership Team positions who are direct reports to the Superintendent.  Other revisions include the addition of language related to the District’s talent acquisition strategy and commitment to ensuring those activities comply with state and federal laws and collective bargaining agreements.

  • Policy 6160, Instructional Materials: Selection, Adoption and Disposal

    Board Policy 6160, Instructional Materials: Selection, Adoption and Disposal, has been revised to comply with the new textbook adoption processes of the State.  As a result of the State’s revised procedures, the policy has been updated to revise the textbook evaluation process.  Language has been added related to open source materials and to align to the purchasing procedures of the District.

  • Policy 6725, English Learners

    Board Policy 6725, English Learners, has been revised to ensure compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations.  Definitions related to English Learners have been updated.  Additionally, language has been added about a change in law coming out of the 2019 Nevada Legislative Session requiring corrective action by a school that is rated in the lowest 30 percent of public schools in the State in the achievement of students who are English Learners.
