Cool Caf combines FUN, nutrition-balanced meals and Ace the Fox in a cafe designed especially for elementary students. Cool Caf is the place to be seen eating cool food, relax, refuel, and learn healthy messages through fun, engaging characters and words that bring the cafeteria to life.
Ace, a friendly and energetic fox, is the elementary-level nutrition mascot, and he spreads his message of nutrition and wellness through live appearances, the www.acefanclub.com website, and regular in-school activities. Visually exciting materials designed with fun graphics engage student interest; and a simple but effective nutrition & wellness message reinforces the importance of a healthy school breakfast and lunch to our younger customers. Ace giveaway day is once per month for students who participate in school lunch that day. Look on your calendar September - May.
The Tines offers middle school students the dining experience they crave with the fresh options served in a sophisticated retail environment. Fun, energetic colors canvas the cafe and food photography highlights the variety of freshly prepared offerings available every day. The Tines is a place where students catch up with their friends and take a refreshing break from their hectic schedules while refueling with a healthy meal.
Select middle and high schools offer a FUEL program two weeks out of the month which keeps the dining environment fresh, NEW and exciting. Recipes are chef-inspired and offered inside the cafe.
The U.B.U. Lounge is the oasis on the high school property that provides a universally appealing environment. Here, students can refuel with a variety of nutritious meals, express themselves, and re-energize for their afternoon classes and after-school activities in a comfortable setting that reflects their lifestyle. We even have a lounde area with chairs and a sofa for students to hang out and catch up with their friends!
The Washoe Noshery is a district food truck that is completely designed for and by Washoe County students. High school leadership and marketing classes helped define the marketing and menu, while graphic design students helped inform the final truck look and feel. The food truck rotates to several middle and high school throughout the district serving chef-inspired school meals that are different than what is offered in the cafe. Meals are available to both free/reduced and paid meal students.
