    The Washoe County School District, Child Find Department, will provide the support needed to ensure the educational, intellectual, social/emotional and vocation development of students with disabilities to enable them to participate in and be productive members of society.

    What is Child Find?/¿Qué es Child Find?

    The Washoe County School District believes that every child has the right to a public education.  Some parents of children with special needs may not be aware of the Special Education programs and community agencies ready and willing to serve them.  This office meets that need.
    Every school age child is guaranteed by law and appropriate, publicly-supported education.  In order to ensure implementation of this law, your school district is conducting an ongoing "child find project". 
    The objective of Child Find is to identify, evaluate and provide appropriate services for any Washoe County child between ages of 3-5. 
     
    El Distrito Escolar del Condado de Washoe cree que todos los niños tienen derecho a una educación pública. Es posible que algunos padres de niños con necesidades especiales no estén al tanto de los programas de educación especial y las agencias comunitarias listas y dispuestas a atenderlos. Esta oficina satisface esa necesidad.

    Todos los niños en edad escolar tienen garantizado por ley una educación adecuada y financiada con fondos públicos. Para garantizar la implementación de esta ley, su distrito escolar está llevando a cabo un "proyecto de búsqueda de niños" continuo.

    Why is there a Child Find?/¿Por qué hay un Child Find?

    Child find is a service of the Washoe County School District and is a federally-mandated program established to help identify the un-served child.  After a child has been evaluated and found eligible for services, the Child Find Team works with the parent or guardian to create an appropriate program for the child. 

    Child Find es un servicio del Distrito Escolar del Condado de Washoe y es un programa establecido por mandato federal para ayudar a identificar al niño que no recibe servicios. Después de que un niño ha sido evaluado y se determina que es elegible para los servicios, el Equipo de búsqueda de niños trabaja con el padre o tutor para crear un programa apropiado para el niño.
