Nevada Reading Week
For more than 30 years, Nevada Reading Week has been celebrated across the Silver State in March to promote a life-long love of reading.
Nevada Reading Week 2021: Art Contest
This year, the Nevada Department of Education proudly integrated the arts into Nevada Reading Week 2021 with the launch of our first statewide art contest to select a logo depicting the 2021 theme, “Change Your World-Read!” Congratulations to our Grand Prize Winner, 8th grader Isabella Lopez from Sparks Middle School in the Washoe County School District. A very special thank you to graphic designer, Ian Usher for volunteering his time and expertise to add color to the design and Sara Paschall of Pine Nut Printing Company for sponsoring our Grand Prize winner and finalists. We also recognize Mandy Leytham and Robert Jones for their service and sponsorship. We look forward to seeing the logo displayed across Nevada during Reading Week, March 1-5th. Nevada Reading Week 2021: Book Lists
Get ready for Nevada Reading Week early by enhancing your library with new titles! To promote reading for pleasure, students need access to books that mirror their lives and expand their knowledge about the world and experiences of others. These grade-level book suggestions reflect the 2021 theme, “Change Your World – Read!” The titles were chosen to assist Nevada educators and families in supporting students in growing and nurturing perspectives other than their own, changing self-awareness, and honing self-acceptance through a deeper understanding of the lives of others. These books also showcase people around the world who have enacted or promoted change related to the environment or society. Each title is linked to teachingbooks.net which provides an engaging collection of resources.
