At BDB we encourage all students and athletic abilities to try out for any team they are interested in. Middle school sports do not require a doctor's physical exam like high school sports and are a great way for students to learn skills, get involved in the school culture and get invested in their educational and athletic goals.
Each of our sports seasons will offer an open tryout day and run roughly 5 weeks of after-school practices and home and away games played against other middle schools in the Reno/Sparks area. Games are free to spectators!
On try out day, your student must give the coach a parent signed and completed athletic packet, specific to that sport, and be dressed appropriately and ready to play in order to enter the tryout. Teams are chosen the day after tryouts. Sports at BDB are popular, but our teams are limited in the number of athletes per team, so unfortunately, this does mean many students who try out may not be chosen.
Sports are free to try out for however, should your student make a team they will be assessed a $10 Athletic Transportation Fee on their Infinite Campus account. This District required fee is charged only once in a school year per athlete regardless of how many teams they make in that school year. Some sports may have additional fees for uniforms or special equipment assessed at the discretion of the coaches.
Sports offered at BDB:
- Cross Country
- Girls Basketball
- Boys Basketball
- Girls Volleyball
- Wrestling
- Track
- *Cheerleading Club
Our Athletic Packets are always printed and available from the side wall in the front office. Reminder that students are responsible to bring this packet directly to the coach at the start of a tryout or they will be turned away from tryouts and the office staff can not collect the packets.
*Cheer is not assessed an athletic transportation fee as they do not travel and will only attend home basketball games but are required to have a packet on file. Tryouts are scored by a judges panel.
