    • The Galena DECA chapter provides students with the opportunity to develop important skills in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and more. Through competitions, hands-on experience, and a vast variety of different leadership opportunities, our members gain practical knowledge and a competitive edge for their future careers.     First Robotics Club (small robotics):

    • FIRST Tech Challenge teams design and build a robot using a reusable kit of parts and compete within a common set of game rules to play an exciting field game and complete the specific season challenge. The robot game changes every season and is always a blast!  Student and adult team members are encouraged to bring any skills they already have, like programming, electronics, metalworking, graphic design, web creation, public speaking, videography, and many more. FIRST Tech Challenge welcomes every student, with or without special skills.

    Fly Fishing: Sergeant Major Lappin - joshua.lapping@washoeschools.net 

    • Our club is dedicated to teaching kids the art of fly-fishing! We'll guide them through tying their own flies and take them to local ponds to practice casting and fishing techniques. We'll have guest speakers from the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) throughout the year and offer casting classes to help improve their skills. Join us for a fun and educational experience on the water!

    • Students interested in the arts are encouraged to join Grizzly Arts.  We do a variety of art-related activities.  We are focused on building and fundraising for the art department.  Students create products that are sold at a yearly art festival the group puts on.  The art festival incorporates crafters, student art show, and live performances.  Students run the entire event and all monies raised go directly to fund the needs of the Art Department.

    • HOSA is a national student organization that provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for secondary, postsecondary, collegiate, and adult students enrolled in health science, biomedical sciences, and other programs preparing the next generation of health professionals.  HOSA has state and national competitions in many fields of interest in medicine.

    • Our Outdoor Academic Success program leverages our unique environment to foster resilience, leadership, and hands-on learning. This 7th-period class is designed around field trips, outdoor skill certifications, and student-driven exploration.

    • Students must be enrolled in a CTE pathway.  It is the #1 workforce development organization for students. We empower students to become skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. There are State and national competitions in many events. Currently, Galena competes in Engineering Design, but we have competed in many other areas in the past.

    • Speech and Debate is a club that hones public speaking, critical thinking, and argumentation skills. Students compete in various events, including persuasive speeches, interpretive performances, and structured debates on current issues. Speech and Debate encourages collaboration and the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively. Members develop confidence, leadership, and a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives.

    • The Galena High School Drama Club is thrilled to make its debut this year, offering students a brand-new opportunity to explore their passion for theater and the performing arts. This new club aims to provide a creative outlet for students both on stage and behind the scenes, fostering a love for storytelling, collaboration, and self-expression.  With a focus on building a welcoming and inclusive environment, the Drama Club invites all students—whether seasoned performers or curious newcomers—to join in creating memorable productions and meaningful experiences. As a new addition to Galena High School’s extracurricular offerings, the club is excited to grow and establish a tradition of theatrical excellence.
