One of the premier Career & Technical Education departments in the State of Nevada and Washoe County, Spanish Springs High School's Career & Technical Education department can offer students unique career training programs taught by industry veterans. CTE Programs include the C3Media Academy programs: Video Production, Graphic Design, Web Design, and Multimedia - which is a combination of all media fields! Other CTE singleton programs are: Auto Technology, Cybersecurity, Family Consumer Sciences, and Teaching and Training. And lastly, the Sports Medical Academy also falls under CTE.
Students will learn real job skills to prepare them for a career, or post-secondary education. Students get to use industry standard equipment, with real projects and real responsibility.
All CTE programs are connected to CTSOs. These are Career and Technology Student Organizations. There are 4: SkillsUSA, FBLA, FCCLA, and HOSA. Our Career and Technical classes combine educational learning with the participation of CTSOs where students participate in challenges and contests to test their trade skills and abilities. Students gain real world experience, make lasting friendships, and fine tune their workplace readiness skills making them ready to succeed in high school and after high school.
Here at Spanish Springs High School, our CTE programs consist of 4 consecutive classes in each of the pathways. When students choose, commit, and participate in the pathway of their choice. Many other benefits become available. Students have a chance to earn honors credits, including earning an honors diploma. Students have the opportunity to earn the Nevada Certificate of Attainment for the pathway of their choice. Which also coincides with the opportunity to earn college credits, again in the specific pathway of choice.
