  • Important Information about the Upcoming ACT + Writing Test

On March 7, 2023 all 11th graders will be taking the ACT + Writing Exam. Taking this exam is a requirement for graduation in Nevada. Additionally, 12th graders who did not take the test last year will also sit for the exam on March 7. The exam will begin at 7:45am and students will be dismissed from school after the exam is over, typically about 1pm. Students are reminded that they must have a picture ID card for the exam and are encouraged to bring their own calculator, particularly if they wish to use a graphing calculator. Because the test is quite long, we also encourage students to bring a snack. Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed to be in the student’s possession during the exam. Students may stow them in a bag during the test, but it’s better to leave those items at home. Additionally, no hats or hoods that cover the student’s ears will be allowed during the exam. Test room assignments will be posted in the 100 and 200 halls a week prior to the test.

For students who are not taking the ACT + Writing on March 7, there is no school.

    Lancer's Excel!

This year, we will continue our school-wide support program, Lancers Excel. Lancer’s Excel is an intervention program that is designed to be flexible, providing students extra help when they need it. For the first two weeks of school, all students have been placed into an Intervention class called “Excel Home Base.” You'll see it on your schedule as "Closed Intervention." We will use this time to prepare students for this school year. Starting August 30, students will be able to get additional help from teachers when they are struggling with particular concepts and skills, access help on homework or assignments in a targeted study hall (e.g. “Math Homework Help”) or just have a quiet place to get their assignments done. They can also use this time to make up tests or quizzes they may have missed due to absence, eliminating the need for students to do this before school, after school, or during lunch. The program is designed to give all students what they need, when they need it.
