Hey Lancer Family! You must have an off-campus pass to leave school. The only exception is during lunch. Please check in at the office for a pass—you must have parental permission. If you are off-campus without a pass, you are truant! If you get sick during the school day, you should go to the health office. Please do not just go home!
As the weather sets warmer Please, remember that outfits must follow WCSD dress code guidelines. Shorts, skirts etc. must be mid-thigh, shirts should cover your torso and undergarments should not be seen. Please remember that hats are not be worn in the building.
Personal Property on Campus--A reminder, Washoe County School District and McQueen High School are not responsible for items brought to campus that are lost or stolen. To prevent loss of property, please remember to keep valuable items and money either securely locked, or even safer, leave them at home. If you lose anything at school alert SRO right away. Otherwise, keep it secure or at home!
Lancers, Please be good neighbors! As you go to lunch and afterschool please be respectful of the neighborhood just south of McQueen. (Northgate Village). Please leave personal property alone and do not leave litter in the neighborhood.
Restricted Access during School Hours--An important reminder: For safety reasons students cannot have access to any areas of the football field or other athletic fields, gyms, and facilities during school hours, including lunch. Please remain out of these areas at all times. Thank you.

Students, just a reminder that if you are not feeling well and need to go to the Health Office, you MUST get a pass from your teacher. If it is during passing, please report to your next class and ask your teacher for pass.

Lancers, it's a new semester! Take charge of your grades! Do you need help with homework or a place to study after school? Feeling a little lost with that tricky Algebra concept or essay you’ve been working on? Maybe you just need to work on that big research project you have due next week. If you said yes to any of these questions, worry no more! Join us in the Career Center for some free tutoring every Thursday from 2:35-4:00. All students are welcome!

The time is coming when you will get to see the 2018 yearbook in person! May 25 is the day. $5 is the price. 3-6 is the time. The courtyard is the place. Come for your book and have some food from Jimmy John’s, Pizza Guys, Dunkin Donuts, and more. Summer is almost here, so don’t miss out on your 2018 Caxton! You can still buy your yearbook from the bookkeeper for $100.
I scream, you scream we all scream for Ice cream! The cafeteria is selling fudge bars and orange dreamcicles. If you want them as an a la carte item, they are $1.
Come celebrate wrapping up AP tests and the end of the year…. Our last bingo night will be Tuesday, May 29th in the cafeteria. Doors open at 5:30, game starts at 6:00.

PE Make-ups: Attention all PE students, there are multiple opportunities for PE make-ups ----- There are baseball and softball games on campus this week. Remember that you must have your make-up form signed by a staff member. Intramurals are available each day at lunch…. Basketball is available in the small gym and badminton is in the big gym. Remember that intramurals can be used to make up absences and days of missed instruction. Two days of intramurals is good for 1 PE make-up.
Lunchtime Intramurals: The volleyball nets are up in the big gym, so come on down during lunch to play. Remember, you can use intramurals to make-up absences in PE and raise your grade.
Chess Club: Come join us for the first meeting of the Chess Club on Fridays at lunch in room 210.
LGBTQ club will be meeting in Room 104 every TUESDAY for the rest of the year.
Knitting Club meetings: There will be lunchtime knitting in the Faculty Dining Room with Ms. Hilliard and Ms. Overby on Thursdays. Please come join us.
Bridge club is meeting after school Friday. Come check it out!
ArtOps Club: Would you like to enter art competitions or create artwork for the school and in the community? Come during lunch to Ms. Walsh’s room 508 (next to the band room) and check out the ArtOps club. We keep you informed of art competitions and real world art jobs so you can build your portfolio. Some competition and job opportunities include monetary or other prizes. That’s ArtOps club for art opportunities, room 508, during lunch on Mondays.
Mt. Biking Club--Are you a mountain biker or interested in learning about the sport, there will be a Mountain Bike Club meeting in Mr. Vaughn’s room, #112, Monday, May 21st, at 2:40. For more information, contact Mr. Vaughn.

Come support our awesome Track athletes at Carson High School! Our first Race Friday will be at 3:45. On Saturday the 1st Race is 9:00AM.
Come out and support all your creative friends and students at the biggest Fine Arts event in the entire District this Friday from 5:30-8pm. For only $5 you can experience our talented musicians, singers, actors, and artists in action plus you get a plate of sweet treats. It’s awesome and all the proceeds benefit your school’s arts programs. Tickets available in the office from Ms. Wood, all of our Fine Arts teachers, and many of the art students.
Fall athletic Clearances are beginning. Do your registration at Registermyathlete.com early. Make sure that you move the year to 18-19 for the registration. Athletic fees can be paid now for next year.
Attention all 9th-10th & 11th graders interested in playing football next year: Spring football begins after school on Monday. Student-athletes interested in participating in spring football should see Coach Snelling, Coach Marner or Coach Ehlen for information. Spring football will take place from 3-4:30 PM on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
For the off-season conditioning practices for teams for spring and summer. Make sure that you check the announcements and the athletic bulletin board for information for teams you are interested in.
FREE the Fred Alexander Memorial FAMILY Golf Clinic. This clinic is a FREE clinic offered to anyone ages 6-17, along with his or her parents/grandparents/guardians who are interested in an introduction to the sport of Golf. For those who already play this is a great way to learn more about the game and win great prizes.
Date: Sunday May 20, 2018. Registration time: 10:45-11:45 and the clinic will start at 11:45-4:00. Location: Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City.
