• SCHOLARSHIP NOTIFICATION FORM

    2022-2023

What is the Scholarship Notification Form and What is it Used For?

The Scholarship Notification Form will be completed by seniors when they have been awarded a Scholarship (a scholarship is any type of tuition discount that can be used for higher education) from Reno High School, Colleges / Trade Schools (either in state or out of state), Athletic, Local, State, National.

Reno High School tracks all scholarships that our seniors receive.  We use this information to invite Seniors to our Convocation Awards Night (see Convocation tab for more information), and we include scholarship information in our graduation program.  Mr. Hackbusch will also touch on scholarships during his graduation speech.

When Should I Fill Out the Scholarship Notification Form?

The Scholarship Notification Form can be filled out any time a senior has been awarded a scholarship.

Do I Need to Show Proof of My Scholarship?

Yes, any time the Scholarship Notification Form has been completed, Seniors will need to validate that scholarship by showing proof.  There are several ways to validate a scholarship - seniors can email screen shots of scholarship awards within the Financial Aid area within their college / scanned congratulations letters / forward congratulation emails, etc. to tasha.palzkill@washoeschools.net

    or

Seniors can stop by the Cube (same hallway as the library) and show Tasha Palzkill, College and Career Facilitator, their proof for the scholarship - screen shots of scholarship awards in their Financial Aid area within their college website / congratulations letter or email, etc. Basically, any type of documentation that shows they have been awarded a scholarship.

**Please note that over the last several years because of Covid, we did not require proof of a scholarship. However, prior to Covid, this was our practice and so we are initiating that practice again.

What is required to fill out the Scholarship Notification Form?

There are three sections to the Scholarship Notification Form: You will need to have the name of the scholarship and amount awarded to fill out this form

    • The first section is General Information (Name, College Attending, etc.)
    • The second section is Scholarships Awarded that will be Accepted.  This section is to be filled out when a Senior receives a scholarship that will be used to help fund their college/trade school for the following Fall (and/or during their college years).  You will need to list the Scholarship Name and Scholarship AmountPlease note that if the scholarship is a four-year award - write "x4" next to the yearly amount. We have provided 5 lines for scholarships - if you have received more, just submit another form.
    • The third section is Scholarships Awarded but Not Accepted.  This section is to be filled out when a Senior receives a scholarship but will NOT be using to help fuld their college/trade school (An example would be if you applied to 3 different schools and received 3 packages - the two colleges that you will not attend would be listed under this section with their scholarship name/amount).  You will need to list the Scholarship Name and Scholarship AmountPlease note that if the scholarship is a four-year award - write "x4" next to the yearly amount. We have provided 5 lines for scholarships - if you have received more, just submit another form.
