Grades Kinder-5th Course Selection & G.A.T.E.

Course selection for grades Kinder-5: follows the prescribed courses for each grade level as indicated below: 4 core courses and 1 elective based on corresponding semester. (Students DO NOT select elective options they are pre-assigned)

1st SEMESTER ELECTIVE:

Kinder: Ed Tech

1st grade: Art

2nd grade: Ed Tech

3rd grade: Art

4th grade: Ed Tech

5th grade: Art

2nd SEMESTER ELECTIVE:

Kinder-5th: PE 

We do offer Accelerated courses for students in grades 3-6 in ELA, Math and Science. Students are placed in Accelerated courses based on several factors including, but not limited to: GATE qualification as well as academic and assessment data.

All students K-5 will be expected to take 4 core classes and 1 elective. Electives will be broken down by semester. 

Con-Current Enrollment:

It is your responsibility to enroll at your zoned school IF they are accepting enrollment AND to let North Star know if your student will be taking con-current courses at their zoned school. 

Students will be scheduled into a full course load: 5 courses for grades Kinder-5 even if the zone school allows con-current enrollment.
