Washoe County School District'sFAFSA WorkshopStarting in December, all High Schools within Washoe County School District will be hosting FAFSA Nights for parents and their Senior. UNR and TMCC will be attending all of these events to walk parents and students thru the FAFSA application process. Parents do not have to attend the "zoned school" of their child. We are encouraging all parents to attend one of these events at a high school that is most convenient for them.Reno High is limited to 30 spaces (we will be using the Library Computer Lab). If RHS becomes full, the College and Career Facilitator will contact you and let you know that you have been put on the waiting list. If you are placed on the waiting list, please remember that you can sign up at other schools or schedule an appointment with TMCC or UNR Financial Aid (even if your student does not plan on attending those schools) to help you navigate through FAFSA.

Before the FAFSA opens, there are a few things students and their parents/guardians can do to prepare.
The first step for both the senior and their parent/guardian is to create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID. The FSA ID is an electronic signature, one for the student and a different one for the parent (or shared by both parents). There is a one- to three-day time frame for processing the FSA ID, which is required to complete the FAFSA. We are encouraging students / parents to complete this step 3 days prior to the workshop
Tip: When completing any post-secondary planning, such as FAFSA, students should use a personal, not school-related, email address.
