For the Love of Jazz is very excited to finally bring back the Reno Jazz Community Jam, which is open to students of all ages and abilities!

The RJC JAM is specifically designed to provide the opportunity for student musicians to play in a live setting with other players who are fluent in the “language” of jazz.

Each jam is hosted by a professional-level rhythm section that is provided specifically for the purpose of teaching the language of jazz through live performance. Our goal is to help students improve their jazz vocabulary and improvisational skills, gain experience and confidence in small group musical interaction, and increase their enjoyment of playing live jazz.

Participation in the RJC JAM is free and open to all, but is specifically targeted for high school and middle school students. For help learning some easier jazz standards to play at the JAM, visit the FTLOJ education webpage to access a great list of tunes with recordings and play-along backing tracks. Just click the link.

    See you at the JAM!

    Please Note:

The JAM will follow Washoe County School District Covid safety policies. Please bring your performance masks and instrument bell covers. We will also be maintaining a 3 ft spacing between performers. Thank you for helping us keep the JAM a fun and safe event!
