Mr. Nathaniel Myers - Billinghurst MS Band Director

Nathaniel Myers has spent his entire life working in Concert, Jazz, and Marching Bands from Southern CA to here in Reno NV. He received his bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Nevada, Reno (GO PACK!) and his master's degree in music education from Eastern Washington University. Mr. Myers performs with the Reno Pops Orchestra on clarinet and is a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Nevada Music Educator's Association (NMEA) and Phi Mu Alpha Men's Music Fraternity. He and his wife, Erin, enjoy spending their time with their bulldog and love being outdoors and hiking around Lake Tahoe.

Our Bighorn community continually supports the arts and our music programs here at Billinghurst, making us one of the top performing middle schools in Northern Nevada. The Billinghurst Band program serves over 240 students every year, offering jazz band, concert bands, and afterschool clubs for colorguard, percussion and other chamber ensembles.

    • 180 students in the program with 205 class enrollments (Billinghurst's overall enrollment decreased due to the new Swope MS construction)
    • Intermediate Honor Band- 10 Billinghurst students were selected 
    • Advanced Honor Band- 8 Billinghurst students were accepted
    • MS Honor Jazz Band- 2 Billinghurst students were accepted
    • Music in the Parks Festival- 2nd place MS AA Jazz Band, we also combined our Advanced Band with Advanced Orchestra for a full "Symphony" Orchestra experience and placed 1st in MS AA and took home 1st Overall in the MS AA Orchestra Division
    • WCSD Band Festival- 7th Grade Intermediate Band scored competitively among other groups and received an Excellent rating
    • NMEA Nevada All State MS Band: 1 Billinghurst Student Accepted (we switched to an audition format this year)
    • Participant in the Reno Jazz Orchestra Mentorship Program
