PSAT TEST
Students who signed up with Mrs. Carney to take the PSAT should access an informational website and study guide. There are two links: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt/preparing/studying-practicing and
Preparing for the PSAT/NMSQT – SAT Suite | College Board
Testing information:
STUDENT NOTICE: Students will receive a paper notice in their English class that contains important information SPECIFIC TO THEM. Students will receive a unique access code. With this code, they will need to follow the instructions (included in the student notice) and access the College Board portal to complete the DIGITAL READINESS SET UP STEP. Students are required to complete various agreements and policies as well as answer some additional questions. A Full-length practice test is also available. If students do NOT complete this step prior to the test, they will be required to do it before testing, thus extending testing time by approximately 30 minutes.
WHEN: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22nd
Students need to report to the gym right after the bell rings at 7:40. DO NOT REPORT TO CLASS!
WHERE: RHS BIG GYM
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The test is 100% DIGITAL. Students are required to take exams on a school device. The exam is approximately 2 hours long. If students did not do the Digital Readiness Step, they will take an additional 30 minutes as students must do this step FIRST. The computer program, called Blue Book, does have a built-in calculator. However, students are allowed to bring their own if they desire. It is strongly encouraged that students do the Digital Readiness step to become familiar with the Blue Book program and how it works, as well as access the practice tests. The exam is a timed exam, and the program will have a count-down clock to show students the remaining time. Students need to bring a pencil, Student ID, and calculator (optional).
Taking the Test
- On test day, you’ll connect to Wi-Fi, sign in to Bluebook, and complete a short check-in process.
- Before the test starts, your proctor will read some instructions, collect any prohibited items, and give you a start code. You’ll enter the code into Bluebook and the test will begin.
- The test has 2 sections—Reading and Writing, and Math—with a short break in between.
- Each section has 2 parts called modules, and each module is timed separately. You can move back and forth between questions in a module and review your answers until time expires.
- At the end of the test, Bluebook will submit your answers automatically. Do not close your device until the proctor dismisses you.
- If your submission fails, you’ll see instructions in the app to complete your submission. If your submission continues to fail, raise your hand to inform your proctor.
