I’m Mrs. Cabrera, your math teacher for the next year. Welcome back Pah Rah Squad! And welcome to those students who are new to Pah Rah, I'm looking forward to meeting you. Let's make this crazy year the very best yet.

 My husband and I met on the softball field where I was playing and he was the umpire and have been married for 5 years. He is a supervisor for a 9-1-1 center who always has some crazy stories from calls he receives. I have a 12-year old step-daughter named Karlie who is a 7th grader at Sky Ranch on Black Rock Squad. We also have 1 dog whose name is Sage (a border collie/Australian Shepherd mix) and 2 cats named Zoe and Tigs. My family is spread out between California and Minnesota and it is hard living so far apart because we are very close. 

 I was born and raised in Gilroy, California (the garlic capitol of the world). Swimming was a huge part of my life and I've traveled as far as China to compete in an international swim meet and was fortunate to swim in college. I graduated with a B.S. in Conservation Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz and went on to work for the Bureau of Land Management doing native plant restoration, the National Park Service as a Park Ranger and even the Sacramento Zoo in their education department. Teaching is my second career and attended CSU Chico to get my teaching credential and got my Master's degree in education with an emphasis in Math and Science. I taught for 3 years in Seaside California before moving to Sparks in 2007. This is my 16th year teaching. I have taught every grade from Kindergarten through now 8th grade as well as a high school Earth Science course. I am looking forward to continuing to build relationships with my students because we got cheated out of a quarter of school together last year.

  I love swimming and all water sports as well as watching football, baseball and hockey. I will always root for the San Francisco 49ers, Nevada Wolf Pack, the Oakland A's and Las Vegas Golden Knights. I enjoy going to our cabin at Buck's lake, hiking, hanging out at the beach, reading as well as traveling. I am looking forward to spending this last year of middle school with you.
