    UPCOMING EVENTS

    Fall Concerts - Thursday, September 29 (required for all band students - times/info below)

    • Concert Location: Depoali Gym
    • Concert Times
      • 6th Grade, 5:00-5:30pm (4:45pm call time)
      • Intermediate/Advanced/Jazz, 6:00-6:45pm (5:45pm call time)
    • Uniform
      • 6th Grade: Band t-shirt & blue jeans (shirt to be handed out before the concert)
      • 7th/8th Grade: Light blue band polo shirt & black pants/socks/shoes (shirt to be handed out before the concert) 

    Here are the Band to-do lists for the beginning of the school year:

    6th Grade:

    1. Read the Band Handbook
    2. Complete the Band Registration Form by Friday, August 19. This form includes:
      1. Band Class Agreement (to complete after reading the Handbook)
      2. Needed student information (shirt size, etc)
      3. School Instrument Rental Request Form (for those wanting to rent an instrument from the school)
    3. Order the needed supplies for your child’s instrument. You can buy these through the band using the Supply Order Form (cheaper & easier!). This can be brought in with check or cash to school starting Tuesday, Aug 16. You can also see the supply list in the Band Handbook and order the supplies yourself from a local or online vendor.

    7th/8th Grade:

    1. Read the Band Handbook

Announcements

  • Advanced Band Media Release for magazine picture shoot

    -We are being featured in an article in South Reno Kids & Sports. Their photographer will be at Depoali to take pictures on Wed, Sept 28. Students are to wear their band t-shirt or polo shirt that day for the picture.

    -Families must complete a Media Release in order to have their child's photo taken. I handed them out in class on Fri, 9/23 but you can download it here as well.

  • RENO YOUTH JAZZ ORCHESTRA

    -This is for Jazz Band Students. This is an Honor Jazz-like group that meets for most of the school year. They rehearse on Tuesdays from 5-6:50pm at Billinghurst MS starting on November 1. They will have several gigs throughout the school year.

    -The cost for this group is $400 for the year.

  • RENO JAZZ ORCHESTRA SATURDAY WORKSHOPS!

    -This is for Jazz Band Students. These are workshops to help jazz musicians work on improvisation & jazz combo performance.

    -Workshop dates: Saturdays from 9-11am starting 9/24 and ending 11/20
