    Family Resource Centers:

    What is a Family Resource Center (FRC)? A Family Resource Center is a safe and friendly place to go for many different types of resources when families need help. 

    Who Can Get Help? The Family Resource Center serves anyone who lives in the surrounding community. There are no income qualifications to use the Family Resource Center, although some referrals to other services may be limited according to income guidelines. The Family Resource Center serves children, teens, parents, single adults, and seniors.

    Healthcare: 

    The mission of Northern Nevada HOPES (HOPES) is to provide affordable, high-quality medical, behavioral health, and support services for all. HOPES takes most insurances, including medicare and medicaid, and has a sliding fee-scale for those who may be uninsured. They provide services to both children and their families. HOPES can help your child with: 

    • Pediatric primary care
    • Adolescent primary care
    • Pediatric psychiatry, counseling, and play therapy
    • Case management for social needs
    • Immunizations and well-child visits
    • Rapid point-of-care testing for RSV, flu, strep, and COVID-19
    • Nutrition and obesity counseling
    • Onsite x-ray, lab, and pharmacy
    • Urgent appointments for children experiencing illness or injury

    Community Health Alliance:

    Community Health Alliance is proud to provide you with the kind of friendly, compassionate, and highly skilled health care you deserve. There are a place of diversity and empathy, and have created a safe place for all. Additionally, and importantly, we welcome and are humbled by the opportunity to care for our region’s unsheltered and underserved populations at each of our locations as well as through our mobile healthcare units that are placed throughout the community. Everyone who comes into our health centers for healthcare services is screened for health insurance eligibility, including Medicaid, Medicare, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Our Healthcare Access Specialists walk you through the process so that you, and your entire family, can have peace of mind when it comes to protecting your health.

    Children's Cabinet:

    At The Children’s Cabinet, our mission is to keep children safe and families together. We provide programs and services at no charge to youth and their families in our community. We support young children to young adults, so that they can thrive within their schools, their families, and their neighborhoods. There is no wrong door, and we will ensure those who need us are provided the proper resources regardless of their circumstances.The Children's Cabinet has many different programs that can help assist families with issues such as child care, family and youth counseling, parent education and more.

    Food Pantry: 

    Swope Middle School has a food pantry that is open to all students and their families. It is located inside the school and takes place twice a month on Thursdays from 7am-8am and 1:45pm-2:30pm, or by appointment. Please contact your counselor of the school social worker to make an appointment.

    Children in Transition: 

    The mission of the WCSD Children in Transition (CIT) Program is to provide children who are experiencing homelessness with the opportunities to achieve the same high-quality academic standards expected of all children by eliminating barriers to their education.

    The Boys and Girls Club:

    The Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows is all about creating a place where every kid feels safe and connected: a place to belong and a place to become. This is that place for nearly 14,000 youth in 40+ locations across Reno, Sparks, Fernley, Ely, Tonopah, Panaca, and Winnemucca. We are a place for kids to go before and after school, during school breaks, and during the summer to grow beyond the classroom. We help kids and teens achieve great futures by providing a safe and fun space, an engaging Club experience, and caring professionals to guide them along the way.

    Community Services Agency (CSA): 

    CSA empowers individuals and families to become self-sufficient through advocacy, results-based programs and community partnerships in Northern Nevada. They have multiple programs that can assist with issues such as home maintenance, case management, job training and more.
