Degrees and Certifications:
I am a alumni of the University of Nevada Reno, with my undergraduate degree in Communications/Human Development & Family Studies and my graduate degree in Special Education.
Mrs. Jacie Osborne
This is my 9th year at Shaw Middle School working as a teacher in our resource program. Being a Shaw Coyote is something I am incredibly proud of and I know that our staff/school is a great place to be for all.
I am a mother of two (a daughter, 20, and a son, 14) who both have Autism in different ways (one social and emotionally and the other intellectually.) They were Shaw students during their middle school years and they were my inspiration to pursue teaching. I like to think that being part of the IEP process from both sides of the table (as a parent and as a teacher) has helped me become a better case manager.
Teaching students who struggle in school (no matter the reason) is my passion. I know that every student can learn and that every student is exceptional. My goal is to find the way to help them realize that potential and give them the tools to be successful. I try to be very open with my communication and believe that the schools and families have to work together as a partnership to unlock that success.
I am going to make mistakes because I'm not perfect (no one is!) but I know that learning and growing comes from those mistakes. I always have my students' best interests at heart!
