Degrees and Certifications:
B.S. Environmental Biology M.Ed. Special Education (Candidate)
The 20/21 school year will be my third year at O'Brien STEM Academy. I am looking forward to learning together with my students during one of the most unique school years in history!
I was born and raised in a suburb of Rochester, NY. Learning and exploring have always been passions of mine. I started cub scouts when I was 5 and went all the way up through boy scouts to reach the prestiguous rank of Eagle Scout. I have traveled to many different places and met a lof of great people. I attended two years of community college in Rochester and transferred to State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY. I obtained a B. S. in Environmental Biology in 2012. The last semester of my graduating year, I took Ornithology (study of birds) and my life changed forever. After graduating, I traveled the country researching and protecting various endangered species of birds. This brought me out to Nevada in 2016 to research Greater Sage-grouse, a very important bird to not only Nevada, but to the whole west and entire country! I left all my family members and friends behind for the incredible opportunity. I fell in love with Nevada. The mountains, public lands, and beautiful weather combined with the accessibility of city living in Reno is the perfect fit for me. Being a teacher combines all my passions. I am able to learn and help young people learn, while having summers dedicated to the birds!
O'Brien and the north valleys are my new community. I am here to care and support the outstanding members of this special community. I want to do everything I can to make school feel special for my students. Middle school is usually not many people's favorite. It can be a really challenging time for young people. I do everything I can to make it great for them. I teach Leadership, 7th grade resource math, and I also co-teach 7th grade math. I coach Cross-country, Girls' Basketball, Boys' Basketball, and Volleyball. I also help out on various clubs.
If you have any questions for me, please reach out. O'Brien is the heart of the north valleys. It is not only centrally located, but also in the middle of the path from elementary to high school. I want to make it as strong as it can be.
