Welcome

Distance Learning During the Corona Virus Outbreak

  •

    Start- Date April 2nd

    Finish- May 29th

    Students,

I hope this email finds you safe and healthy. As we prepare for the beginning of distance digital learning, I need to share some important information with you. My primary method of communication will be e-mail (jalian@washoeschools.net) I have received tons of questions in the past few days, I will attempt to answer them here.

If you have any completed missing assignments that you would like to be put into Infinite Campus, either scan and email them to me or take pictures with your phone of completed assignments and send them to me through email. (jalian@washoeschools.net) Those of you who haven’t taken the World War II exam, we will get that handled upon return to school.

If you are not happy with your current grade, the distance learning assignments are a great opportunity to get that grade boosted. You will be given an activity/assignment for each of the periods that we meet. Each assignment will be a total of 25 points, these assignments are district generated lessons. You can complete and submit these assignments any time during the day or turn them all in at the end of distance learning. I am attaching the Day 1 assignment.

Please keep your Cold War unit packet, we will still be covering the rest of the unit when we return. But for now the Cold War Unit is on hold.

I will be communicating with you through your email addresses as well as posting assignments on my class webpage.

On EACH day, I will need you to email reply "GOT IT", this is for the district to track attendance.

    Thanks for your patience,

    Mr. Alian

    READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Damonte Ranch Social Studies Students,

The most recent district grading policy has been released. It is important to understand that students’ grades can not fall during the distant learning period of instruction. This is a great opportunity for students to stay academically active and at the same time improve their grade.

Phase 1: Lessons 1-8. No changes will be made to this, although you can still turn these in (for full credit) which will raise your grade. Those lessons are in the gradebook categorized by Day 1-Day 8.

Phase 2/3: Lessons 9-14 (Phase 2) and Lesson 15-22 (Phase 3). From this point forward these assignments will be under the distance learning category. Each assignment will be tagged either “turned in” or left blank. At the end of the grading semester each “turned in” assignments a student has in phase 2 and 3 will result in a 1% grade boost. (Could be a potential of 14% in phase 2 and 3)

    Reminder to all students:

    · Please either email me the day of class so that I know you are present for attendance required by the district and state.

    · All distant learning assignments can be turned in up to the grading period. Due dates are just recommendations. But remember the first week of June is off limits to give teachers time to make these new grade calculations

    · Any 3rd Quarter missing work can still be accepted.

    · The preferred method to submit assignments is through e-mail. (pictures, attached docs, etc)
