Welcome Back Students

  • Welcome Back to School, Natchez Elementary Families! We are thrilled to welcome you all back for another fantastic year at Natchez Elementary School. Our love for this community runs deep, and we are so happy to be back to work, ready to support and nurture your children's growth and learning. This year, we want to emphasize the importance of being present at school. Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Each day missed is a missed opportunity to learn and grow, so let's work together to minimize absences and make the most of every school day. To help ensure a smooth start to each day, please remember that students should arrive at school no earlier than 8:00 AM. School officially begins at 8:25 AM, and we ask for your support in helping your child be on time and ready to learn. Our dedicated staff is committed to providing the best possible education for our students, and that includes continuing our professional development. This year, we will be focusing on LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) training to enhance our instructional strategies, ensuring that we meet the diverse needs of all our learners. Our teachers are passionate about growing their skills so they can deliver the highest quality education to your children. We are also excited to share our School Performance Plan (SPP) goals with you, which reflect our commitment to continuous improvement and student success. Our SPP goals focus on three key areas:

    1. Increasing Student Achievement: We are dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential. This year, we will implement targeted instructional strategies and interventions designed to close achievement gaps and ensure that all students make significant academic progress. By using data-driven approaches, we can identify areas where students need additional support and provide the resources and teaching necessary to help them succeed.

    2. Enhancing Professional Development: Our staff's growth and learning directly impact our students' success. That’s why we are committed to ongoing professional development, particularly through the LETRS program. By equipping our teachers with advanced skills in literacy instruction, we are preparing them to deliver high-quality education that meets the diverse needs of our student body. This professional development is a cornerstone of our strategy to enhance the learning experience for all students.

    3. Reducing Absenteeism: Attendance is a critical factor in student achievement. We understand that life can present challenges, but our goal is to work collaboratively with families to reduce our absenteeism rate by 10%. We will be implementing various strategies to promote attendance, including outreach to families, incentive programs for students, and providing resources to address any barriers to regular attendance. Your partnership is essential in this effort, as consistent school attendance is key to academic success.

We believe that by focusing on these goals, we can create a school environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive. Achieving these goals requires the active involvement of our entire school community—students, staff, and families alike. Please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher or the school at any time if you need assistance. We're here to help and are looking forward to a successful and rewarding school year.Welcome back, Natchez Mustangs! Let's make this year the best one yet, filled with learning, growth, and success for every student!
