    Birthday Celebrations

Please read before bringing food items for your student's birthday to the school.

Federal legislation requires that snacks given to students during the school day meet federal health standards. The approved list of snacks, known as the "Smart Snacks for Schools List," is posted below. Parents should consult this list before bringing food to the classroom.

An option for birthday celebrations that don't include snacks is for families to purchase their child's favorite picture book and donate it to the classroom.  The teacher will read the book to the class that day, and the class will celebrate the student.  The birthday student can sign the book on the front cover so that everyone can remember that it was donated as their favorite book for their birthday.  It will stay in the classroom for years to come.

If your family prefers to bring treats, the district has restrictions on the types of food that can be brought and the types of packaging they come in.

Please check with your child's teacher to make sure your child's classroom does not have any food allergies.

    Thank you :)

We also have exemption days every Friday. These are the only days that unapproved snacks can be brought into the school. Please get in touch with your student's teacher regarding these exemption days before bringing in any food items.
